Gong, Yang and Li complicate the assumption that green-space benefits are properties of environments alone. Their experiment crosses environmental condition with nature connectedness, comparing gray space with low- and high-biodiversity green settings after cognitively demanding tasks. The results show that people with stronger nature connectedness respond differently to biodiversity and grayness, while low-connectedness participants are less sensitive to environmental disparities. The conceptual contribution is relational: ecological quality and psychological disposition interact. Biodiversity therefore cannot be treated merely as an objective environmental variable whose benefits automatically transfer to every subject. Methodologically, the paper uses controlled audio-visual exposure, physiological response and eudaimonic measures to test congruence between person and environment. Its wider bridge is to urban design and environmental justice, because it suggests that the success of urban greening depends not only on building ecologically richer spaces but on the cultural, experiential and educational conditions through which biodiversity becomes perceptible and meaningful.
